About the Opportunity
Astro Hill is looking for a full-time Operations & Maintenance Manager based in Iqaluit, NU.
Reporting directly to the Director of Property Management, this is a hands-on role responsible for leading building operations, maintenance, and facilities teams across Astro Hill’s residential and commercial properties. The role oversees a team of approximately 16 employees with 3 direct reports, ensuring efficient day-to-day performance, safety, and quality service delivery.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing daily building operations, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple properties
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of trades and maintenance staff to ensure consistent performance
- Conducting regular property and mechanical system inspections to identify issues and implement proactive solutions
- Managing boiler, glycol heating, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation
- Coordinating and prioritizing maintenance schedules, service requests, and preventative maintenance programs
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
- Supporting capital projects and renovations by coordinating contractors and suppliers
- Monitoring budgets, inventory, and resource allocation to maintain operational efficiency
- Liaising with tenants and other departments to resolve maintenance and operational concerns promptly
- Leading by example to foster a safe, efficient, and accountable work culture
- Participating in on-call rotation and responding to after-hours emergencies as required
About You
To qualify, you will need a Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate or a Journeyperson HVAC Certificate. A minimum of 6 years of experience in property, building, or facilities operations will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Strong technical knowledge of boiler plants, plumbing, or glycol-heated systems
- Proven ability to manage maintenance operations and coordinate renovations or capital projects
- Experience monitoring and managing departmental budgets, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in residential or commercial settings
